fall is here

Somebody said it was yesterday then somebody else said it was actually today, but whichever day it was, fall has rolled in full force. I had apple cider mimosas with friends yesterday morning to welcome its return after a walk in the park. It was hot in the sun and cool in the shade, seasonable for seasonal drinks.

I napped then spent the rest of the afternoon working in the yard. A previous owner had built a compost pile along the fence, which I finally tore down. I moved the produced soil to fill in edges around paving work I had done in the spring. I had the fence behind where the pile was repaired back then as well. Now it can breathe, and hopefully last longer than the previous panel did butted up against dirt. I didn't think to take pictures of any of that work, but I did take plenty of the dogs.

This morning we went for a short walk around the neighborhood, making it back as it began to rain. I planned on more yard work today but settled in at the library instead. The rain wrapped as I was finishing browsing and messaging, yielding to a cold breeze. I switched from a t-shirt to a flannel then took the dogs out for a second walk. A few more drops fell as we arrived home again, but the sky was clear by evening. I made another fire on the patio, this one started on the first try.
