herb garden intro

We went for a walk in the park this morning and found piles of peanuts along the path, which Dany is apparently happy to eat.

Shell and all.

I cleaned up the herb garden on Thursday, now they have fresh post-haircut pictures to share. There are about ten anise hyssop, lots of bumble bees, occasional honey bees, and fraternities of ants.

I think this is a scissor bee, but I'm not a bee expert. I just searched for "small bee" and that's what came up.

In the center of the garden is a clover bed, around which I'm trying to grow Roman chamomile.

Next to that I have two thyme and three sage.

I started with eight rosemary last year. They did alright through the winter, but squirrels came digging around in the spring to the detriment of some of the rosemary. I took a tray of cuttings then and transplanted about 15 survivors around the outer edge of the garden trying to grow a hedge. Some are still small, and I still need to build up reinforcements, but there are no fewer than eight remaining so we're not losing.
