toum raiding

This morning we went for a walk down a powerline trail. I wondered if the cells of my body have ever taken a scenic tour of my nerves and if it's ingratiating to wish they could go on vacation, too. Sorry blood cells, you're not allowed to stop working, but maybe some of you can take a little time to visit my spleen and post pictures for the skin to see and feel content and revitalized in purpose. I hope at least I'm a good boss, they work so well I hardly ever have to check in on them, and in my laboring sometimes I forget the work they do.

We passed some deer having a snack in a neighborhood outside the park where we turned around. The fawn served up Teemo satellites over the horizon. Back home Teemo got to test drive a carrier a neighbor let us borrow.

Tonight I made toum. I followed the Serious Eats recipe but couldn't get the garlic "light and fluffy", I think due to the half proportions I was using in a too large food processor. It's not perfectly smooth and yellow instead of white, but that might be from my choice of extra virgin olive oil instead of something more neutral like the instructions said. The emulsion held, though, so I'm calling it a success. Once prepared I made chik'n patties with iceberg and a thick spread of it on toasted sesame buns. There is now, in my mouth, this sharp garlicky aftertaste, and I hope it never comes out.
