tuesday trivia

I replaced the lantern on the side of the house with a motion sensor activated lamp yesterday. There used to be a door here, and a switched light probably made more sense then. The shape of the junction box forced me to rotate the new fixture a bit to fit. I think it looks like the stabbing robot from Futurama. Now I need to scrub out that rust stain.

I went out after dark to tweak the sensor and walk the path a few times. The offset angle doesn't seem to affect the lighting in a detrimental way so that'll live on as an aesthetic oddity rippling through history like the cracks in the stucco outlining the former door. I probably would have kept amusing myself walking and waiting for the light to switch off until a neighbor texted about trivia at the firehouse. I ran over there to join their team. We tied for first and won a basket of fries for next week.

This morning we went for a short hike with Teemo as line leader. Dany wanted to jump in the creek, but I saved that for another day. There's a field around the park where we ran a few laps before heading home. I meant to get to the library a little earlier this afternoon to take advantage of a flu clinic they were hosting here but I was glued to the drama of the backyard birds, who were too camera shy for a picture.
