walking weekend

My Internet connection was struggling to download train and bus schedules and to pay for fare so I made a last minute decision to ride my bike to First Friday this weekend. I can't remember the last time I rode it and so moved it to the chopping block during recent decluttering, now I think it will stay as part of that frugal minimalism. Two neighbors shared about their recent road trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I shared about all the walking I've been doing. Somebody proposed we all hike together, which I volunteered to organize. As I was parking back home I saw a barn spider on the side of the garage.

This morning I went walking with the dogs down the Wissahickon again. I brought the cookie bag this time, Teemo's favorite accessory.

Dany started walking across the creek then figured out how to use the stones. She hopped in the water further downstream where we watched a train passing overhead.

It's autumnal again today, hot in the sun and chilly in the shade. The leaves are changing color and dropping in the breeze. I have errands to run but got comfortable after the walk writing in the backyard watching the birds. I counted ten sparrows in the bath at once. I filled it this morning then they splashed so much I had to refill it again this afternoon. A crow took up an entire feeder and the sparrows seemed perplexed by their failing attempts to chase it away. A gray nuthatch, a new customer, visited as well.
